It was described specifically or transcribed by them as "EMILY JESSIE SAFNECK (nee REX) Jessie Safneck, aged 87, passed away suddenly at her residence in Winnipeg on January 16, 2006. She is survived by her daughter, Janice Safneck; her sister Hazel Snell; her brother-in-law Paul Snell; and numerous niec".es and nephews, their spouses and children. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years Stanley Safneck; her daughter Debbie Safneck; her sister Edna Bate and husband Aubrey; her brother Dick Rex and wife Teresa; and all Stanley's siblings and their spouses. Jessie was born in Holland, MB, living her early years on a farm before moving into town when she was school age. These experiences left her with a love of rural Manitoba and nature that remained throughout her life. After completing high school, Jessie moved to Winnipeg where she took a secretarial course from Success Business College. She worked for several years at the Canadian Grain Commission, including as secretary to the Chief of the Inspection Division, a job she very much enjoyed. During this period of time, she met Stanley Safneck, and they were married June 29, 1950. Jessie then took on the role of housewife and mother. She will be lovingly remembered by those who knew her for her fondness of handicrafts, her kind disposition and generous and patient nature, and for her spirited determination to maintain dignity and independence despite the many illnesses that were a part of her senior years. Special thanks to the many physicians and staff of the Health Sciences Centre who looked after Jessie during the latter part of her life, especially Dr. Ken Van Ameyde for his compassionate care and sense of humour which she very much appreciated. A private graveside service was held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens on January 20, 2006.

If friends desire, donations in Jessie's memory may be made to Fort Whyte Centre, 1961 McCreary Rd., Winnipeg, MB R3P 2K9.
