      Ed will be lovingly remembered by his wife Shirley; two sons and their families, including five grandchildren, and a stepdaughter. Also left to cherish his memory are two brothers and three sisters with their families, including numerous nieces and nephews.

      He was predeceased by his first wife Adeline; mother Olga; father Frank; granddaughter Jessica and niece Jennifer.

      Ed was born on the family homestead in the Willow Creek area on May 7, 1945. He spent his early years working for Nelson River Const., National Products, CFB Gimli and Calverts. For the next 26 years, he operated a dairy farm with his father and afterwards with sons Greg and Barry. He then turned his attention to raising beef animals and grain farming.

      Ed enjoyed the outdoors and working the land. In recent years he greatly loved spending time with his beloved grandchildren and supplied them with frequent treats.

      A Funeral Mass [was] held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 9 at St. Michael's Church in Gimli with Deacon Ray Sutton officiating. A viewing [was] held one half hour prior to the service. Interment follow[ed] at the St. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery.

      In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may be made in Ed's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Box 2598, Main St, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4B3.
